2003 terminal server

Post by upperroom »

We have recently moved our machine serving Power Church to a windows 2003 system running with terminal server. Our idea is to allow vpn access (which is working) to the network, then terminal serve into the machine running Power Church so that alot of the routine admin stuff can be done from home. We use this approach for much of our other tasks and are really hoping to get this working as well.

We have the version 9 installed and running with the latest MR and all is well with the exception that only admins are able to run reports. All users can access Power Church and log in without error but unless I set a user as admin they are unable to run reports without getting an error saying "unregistered class" I have toggled permissions on all forlders that I know but the only method that has worked is to make each user as sysadmin which I do not want to do. If anyone has had or overcome this issue any help would be greatly appreciated. I have also tried to move specific libraries into other folders and change a few obvious permissions in the registry, but am still guessing.

Thanks for any help

The problem is that the components we use for reporting are not registered for that user. When you installed PowerChurch did you put terminal server into install mode? We did minimal testing with version 9 in terminal server 2003, you do need to put terminal server into install mode before installing PowerChurch. If you can't do that try running the netsetup9.exe in the version 9 folder when logged in as each user, this will install the needed components as well.

I'm not a terminal server expert at all so I am afraid I can't be much help beyond what I have already provided. We did a quick test during the version 9 beta to make sure the install would work, other than being in install mode, we did not have any problems.

You might want to take a look at this thread and post your question there:

This person did get version 9 running on a a 2003 terminal server and did not mention any problems. He might be able to offer more of an insight than I can.

Would it be possible to find out where all of the power church components install as well as there locations in the registry.

I am still having the same problem. I am able to work around it by adding each user to the Admin group but this is not something I want to do. Is it possible that Power church drops something somewhere that only has Admin privilleges?
