Best Practices for a "Prayer List"

Post by dhennen »

I've volunteered at our church to maintain a "prayer list". Once a month we have a group that will send cards out to those on the list.

I'm pretty new to PowerChurch, but can't seem to find the functionality I'm looking for.

I'd like to be able to add to a member's record "They requested prayers for X on Y date" then be able to generate a report with that once a month.

Any suggestions on best practices for doing that?

Thanks!

There's really no functionality that can do exactly what you want in Powerchurch. Not to mention that anyone could read notes that you add to an open record, which is not good for a prayer list as many people send such requests with expectations of confidentiality.

That said, you could use the Visitations or the Ministry Services modules for this as these are areas that could be setup as restricted access to only the pastor and the prayer team. This is assuming that they're not already being used by any Deacons or Congregational Care group and/or the minister(s).
