I just installed the new Maintenance Release this morning. I don't know if it's related, but my email is not working now. I get this message: "A connection to the email server could not be made. 2.0.0 mail929c35.nsolutionszone.com closing connection."
My regular email works fine, I just cannot email through powerchurch.

Try downloading your email using your email program (Outlook, Windows Mail, Thunderbird), then try emailing a group from Powerchurch. With some ISPs, you have to get mail, before any sends. This validates your IP address as a customer, and authorizes you to send emails.

Windows XP Home Edition SP3 / PC+ Version 11.1
The MR I just downloaded/installed is dated 08/31/2011

I have attempted three different operations that have produced the identical error message:

PROGRAM: opentables
LINE: 0
ERROR: 1104
MESSAGE: Error reading file c:\powerchurch\pcplus11\data\faaccts.cdx.

The operations I attempted were:
1) Maintain list of contribution files
2) Maintain chart of accounts
3) Reindex

The error caused PC+ to close.

Help, please.

Eden

EDIT: On my laptop at home (Windows XP Home Edition SP3; PC+ 11.1) I have the 8/30/2011 MR and do not have the problems reported above. Is there some way I can put the church computer back to the 8/30 MR so I can move ahead with my work while the 8/31 MR gets the bugs worked out? Thanks!

What do you mean by "downloading your email using your email program, then try emailing a group from Powerchurch."
I have no problem sending or receiving email through my regular email program, and I had no problem sending email through powerchurch until today. I worked just fine last week!!
Did this new maint release have anything to do with email?

I meant to check your email before you tried sending via Powerchurch. As I mentioned above, some ISPs require a 'GET MAIL' type of process before you try to 'SEND MAIL'. For instance, Verizon does require this to be done, other ISPs don't.

Eden, call the Help Line ... I'm fairly sure they can give you some advice. Then they ask, mention its a problem that occurred after you installed the MR.

This is from your ISP ... it appears that you've been sending out many emails, and it may have triggered the ISP's possible spammer trigger. You need to talk to your ISP about what triggers this warning, and what you can do to keep it from being triggered.

Do you have the system setup advanced email options to only send so many emails every few minutes? You may need to set this to something like send 25 emails every 10 minutes, or something like that.

I resorted to copying the entire PCPLUS11 directory from my laptop (where it worked fine) to the church's desktop (which was having the glitch). It appears that the problem is solved. I was able to reindex on the desktop without incurring the error that had come up previously.

Neil, thanks for your suggestion. I'm grateful to the Lord for shaking the dust & cobwebs out of my brain to be able to think of the solution without having to call support.
