PowerChurch 8.0 and netsetup

Post by martin »

Hello All,

I'm the newbie here, and the new guy to the I.T. Team at my church. We use
PowerChurch 8.

Can I do this with version 8:
  1. Run PowerChurch on two (or more) PCs on LAN
  2. Have the PowerChurch database on my Win 2K server
  3. Each client access the db (on server) concurrently
Thank in advance!
Best Regards, and God Bless you,

Martin E.

1. yes
2. yes
3. yes

Instructions for installing PowerChurch on a network are included in the version 8 manual on page 4. Basically, you'll install PowerChurch on the server, then share the PowerChurch directory with full read/write access. On each workstation, you'll map a network drive to that shared resource, then run the netsetup.exe through that mapped drive. This will copy the necessary system files to the workstation. The .exe and the data all reside on the server, and multiple users can all access PowerChurch at the same time this way.
