Data backup / restore

Post by Dan »

:( I would like to backup to a USB device, is there anyway to set the defaults in the system to allow a select function?

No ... there is no way to default to a specific drive other than 'A', Since most backups through Powerchurch have to be manually done, the person doing the backups must select the drive.

However, I do believe setting a default drive is on the Wish List. But remember this, Powerchurch can only recognize drives that have been installed prior to the program being started, so the USB drive must be recognized by the opererating system prior to starting PC+.

Dan, are you talking about a "jump drive" or portable storage device? If so, as long as your operating system sees the USB device as a "legal drive" (like C: for your hard drive, E: for a portable storage device), it will show up in the list of "available backup drives" in PowerChurch. I've got 3 different USB flash drives and all 3 of them show up in PowerChurch once I plug them into the USB port on my PC. As Neil said, though, your operating system must see them as just another drive.
