Installation after crash

Post by Horst »

I had to reinstall Windows XP and PowerChurch 9 on our PC. The only thing I was able to do is to copy the entire PowerChurch folder to a CD (not using the PowerChurch backup utility). Now that I have a fresh install of V9, how do I import our information back from the CD into the new install?

Just copy all the files from the CD back to your PowerChurch Plus folder. That is the easiest way. After copying files fom a CD, windows automaitcally makes all those files read ony so you will have to change the attributes on those files so PC+ will be able to update them.

To change the attributes on all the files:
Go to your PC+ folder
Press Ctrll+A to select all the files and folders
Press Alt+Enter to bring up the properties for the selected files
Uncheck the read-only option
Click Apply. A confirm attribute chnges dialog should appear.
Make sure the option to apply changes to the selected items, subfolders and files option is slected and click OK.

That should complete making sure all the files have the read-only flag cleared.

You may wish to run the netsetup9 program in the PowerChurch plus folder to make sure all the dlls are installed and registered. It is also a good time to download and install the latest Maintenace Release from our web site.
