Setting up tasks for committee members

We have a committee and want to assign tasks to the members, and want to track completion of those tasks. We want this to be visible only to the committee members. Is there a way to do this efficiently? I have created an Activity for the committee, and added the members. I would like to have this operate as a "project manager" - can you give me some advice - or is this the wrong tool.

Its the wrong tool. You can set 'titles' in activities, but you can't track tasks.

The only module that may work is the event module, but others that have access to that module will also see the tasks, and its only per event.

My suggestion is do a Google search for "project management software free" and a few will pop up that are 'commercial' products, but that have a free version for personal use.

I thought as much - what I had set up seemed to be quite clumsy - thanks for your quick response
