Library Book Labels

Post by Greghc48 »

Anyone have any experience with using PC 12 for library books? We are looking at adding the library inventory data (via import or manual) into PC 12. The standard PC report is a 3x5 index card, which is fine, but we also would like to add labels for the books themselves - similar to the "dewey" system, along with labels for the inside checkout card jacket. Will the custom report function in PC print the book labels and card jacket labels?

Any suggestions would be helpful.

Thanks- Greg

FWIW .. the library function in Powerchurch is very rudimentary. It will import data based on the template listed which can't be changed as those are the data items in the tables. As far as labels and such, the custom report writer can do this.

There are examples of reports at this location: https://www.powerchurch.com/customreports/examples/

While they don't use the library tables, they do give you an idea how to use the report editor to create labels etc.

That said, there is an open source library software that can be used, and is specifically for libraries, and is free:

Using PC+ since 1999.

Thanks again - Neil. I agree - the Powerchurch records for library are fairly rudimentary - we'll probably go another way.
