Fatal Error Message at start of reindex

After restoring a file, instead of reindexing an error message appears. This message is " Fatal Error exception code =c0000005" and the screen heading is Microsoft Visual FoxPro. Then the program logs itself out and the desk top comes up. Based on this, I believe it to be a problem with FoxPro. It also occurs if any reindexing is attempted.

I thought I saw a posting on this a while ago, but I have been unable to locate it now. If any one can help it would be greatly appreciated.[/b]

To help the Powerchurch staff, what version of Powerchurch are you running, and are you running the most current maintenance release ??

We are running V9 and it is dated 11/11/2005. I believe this is the latest maintenance release.

Thanks for you questions and I hope you can shed some light on this for us.

Unfortunately, the c0000005 error is a very low level FoxPro "I don't know what happened" kind of error...

When the error message pops up, has the reindex process started yet? If you click on the title bar of the error message and drag it out of the way, what does the reindex window behind it show?

When you try to reindex, does this error message happen with any set of files that you choose to reindex (membership, accounting, contributions, etc.) rather than "All of above files"?

Most likely what is happening is one of the data files is so corrupt, it is crashng Fox. Did you receive any kind of error message when restoring the backup? Also were you having any kind of problem with the system when the backup was made?

The reindexing process starts and the error message appears. Behid the errror message window the message is " reindexing contributions in progress." The problem is in the contribution process.

Jeff,

There was problem with the system and there was no error message during the back-up process. You are probably right that is a corrupt and it is in contributions. I localized that as the problem area. Any suggestion as to how I can restore the file????

It is best that you call support, they may have to have you e-mail the backup to determine which file is corrupt. We won't know exactly what to do until we know which data file(s) has been effected.
