Restoring Accounting Files Only

Post by jmichell »

Hi.
We've been using the Membership module for some months, and now want to implement Accounting.
I'd like to set up the bookkeeper who will be inputting the chart of accounts to do on a separate installation of PC+, with a view to backing up the Accounting info when done and restoring just that info to the 'real' database when we're ready to go.
Is that possible (i.e. to restore just the Accounting files from a different installation into the real installation)?
Is it necessary? I just want to be able to wipe out any errors he may create.
THanks.
John

You have an option to make an Accounting only backup. That way, you're only getting Accounting files, and you just restore all those files on the main computer. If you can't make an Accounting backup for some reason, and you only have a full backup, you can still do it, but you have to be very careful. There is an option to restore selected files when you're doing a restore. You have to make sure to restore all data files beginning with the prefixes: FA, AP, AR, and PR. You may want to call and speak to a technician as well if you are unsure.

When restoring "selected files" from a backup, it's never a bad idea to make a backup before actually restoring, just in case you pick the wrong files, or only some of the right ones!
