Email Events issues...

Hey all...
we are newbies to pc+ and are having some trouble understanding how to send an event email reminder.
we have been messing around with it for hours and have yet to make it work.
Every time we go through the steps to send an email we get a "There are currently no messages to send."
If someone could give us a few tips and or touble spots to watch out for that would be most helpful!
