Really dumb entry error

Post by GDeiChurch »

Ok, I admit it, I was stupid! I entered our 2010 attendance data through the end of April with a 2009 date! I just started putting in the data with a month and day, assuming that the program would automatically use the current year, not the previous year like it does in so many other areas whether you want the current year or not.

:?: First off, is there any way to just change the year so I don't have to go through and re-enter 4 months worth of data? :?: And if not, is there any easy way to get rid the bad data after I have done all the re-entry?

Thanks in advance for any help!

Answer 1: Possibly, but its something that you may want to call Powerchurch tech support about.
Answer 2: Possibly, (see BUT in answer 2)

Thanks Neil!

Looks like I'll be re-entering then. We can't afford the customer service charges for my dumb mistake.

I think I'll be able to go back to an old month end back-up to get rid of the invalid data though! :)

Thanks again,

I'd be careful, if you restore a previous month's backup, you'll lose any changes to Membership, Contributions, Accounting, etc ...

I'd just re-enter the data, and just delete the attendance using the Delete Old Data function under the Attendance Module. I should have mentioned that in my earlier post as answer 2, DOH !! :wall:

Hi Neil,

Thanks for the warning. I was able to restore just the attendance data, and everything seems to be working fine. :D (You can bet that I did a full backup first!) I did look into using Delete Old Data , but it wouldn't have worked for me, because it would have deleted the good 2009 data as well as the bad.

Thanks again!
