Labels inconsistently add "& family"

We recently printed labels for all of the women of the church. About a dozen of the names added "& family" after the women's names. I've looked at each of these women's records and see nothing that would trigger that. They all have children, but so do most of the other ladies whose labels printed correctly. Any ideas? Thanks for your help.

Under File -> Preferences -> Family Mailing List Options look for the Adding New Families tab. On that tab is set the defaults for adding families, but I believe it also governs the addition of that phrase on labels. If the Include '& Family' in Mailing Name box is checked. this may be the cause.

You may have to have your Powerchurch System Admin access the this area if you cannot enter that area.

What was your selection to do the mailing for the women? Would the selection have pulled any children in the family as well? When printing mailing labels from Personal Profiles, Activities and Skill, Contributions, the system by default only prints one label per household. It then creates the name for the label from the people in the family included in the mailing. If a mother and child was included on a mailing it may print the mother's name followed by "& Family"

There was a change made in version 11.1 to add an option to print children names when printing 1 label per family. You can find this under file -> preferences -> mailing label setup. This option will try to print the children's name on the mailing label if their is enough room on the label. If there is not enough room it falls back the "& family"

Example:
Mailing selection includes the following people in the same family:

Jane Smith (directory sequence 2)
Sally Smith (directory sequence 3)

With the option "Show children names when printing 1 label per family" unchecked the name would be Jane Smith & Family

With the option "Show children names when printing 1 label per family" check the name would be shown as Jane Smith (Sally)

Thanks for your input. The mystery is solved! The reason "& family" appeared is because all of these women have daughters still included in their family profiles who are age 18 or over. Appreciate your help--God bless you.
