Mailing Addresses for family members

Post by Roy MacLean »

In V.11, I can enter the family name and address for all the mailings. The question is, how does my birthday card ministry person send a card to a family member who is away at college? Further, how can she send a ministry update of what is going on at church at home? ...and if you have ever burned the midnight oil studying for a test, how do I keep track of the student's mailing address to send them a "CARE" package of healthy stuff to eat to keep the candle glowing brightly?

Just a heads up this is more a Membership module question, rather than a General question. Questions like this about Membership are best asked in that forum, as people usually go there first to see if such a question has been previously answered. Just a thought for next time ;)

That said, to your question.

There's a few ways you can handle this:
1. Add the School address to the NOTES area of the Personal Profile. This is easy, and it keeps the student's personal profile under the parents, but it makes it harder to be able to print a set of labels, or to get the data in a report.

2. (This is what we do). Since the student is (usually) over 18, we classify them as adult, and give them their own Mailing List Profile, and move their Personal Profile over from their parents. We have a user field on the "Notes" portion of the Personal Profile setup to list the Parents names there. Then we utilize the Primary & Alternate addresses to keep track of the location of the student. During the summer, when the student is home, we use the Primary address, which is usually the parent's home. During the school year, we use the alternate address, which is their address at college.

Hope this helps.

:?: QUESTION: Persons are missing when I attempt to print labels pertaining to "activities and skills"; not all records within the selected activities appear on a label. Any Clues? Please advise...

Steps Taken/Tabs Selected: (PowerChurch version 11.1)
Membership
Activities & Skills
Print Mailing Labels
Selected Activites & Skills
(The respective Activity # is entered in the appropriate boxes)

We have verified that the persons missing from the labels are indeed registered within the respective "Activity".

Check under either "Family Mailing List> Maintain Family Mailing List" or "Integrated Data Entry" on the ones that do not print and make surer that the "Include in Mailouts" option is checked.
