Group Email Error Message

Post by lcrawford »

Tried to send a group email to most people in our system. Received the following message: A connection to the email server could not be made. An attempt was made to access a socket in a way forbidden by its access permissions.

What does this mean?

This is a message saying that you may not have your SMTP (email send) server settings correct. Have you tried sending a group email previously, and did it work ??

I thought that might be the problem. I have sent a group email before, but we have changed email addresses. I think the group email was prior to that. When I click on an individual email address from personal profiles, it works correctly. Would there be a difference?

Yes ... individual emails are sent out using your computer's email program (MS Outlook, Thunderbird, etc), the group email system uses a built-in set of routines.

What I would do is check the settings in your regular email program, then check what is setup in Powerchurch. The Email settings under the File -> Preferences has a button that you can use to test the setup, if it works after you update the settings, it should work for the group email.
