We are having a problem with our group emails that just cropped up this month. After reading this discussion, I updated our PC+ v10.4 to the latest MR (01/09/12), but we are still experiencing the problem.

When we send out a broadcast email, some of the addresses are not being sent the email, and they are identified in the Bulk e-mail sent status report with the heading Resources temporarily unavailable - Please try again later. The addresses represent about 15% of the total group, but vary from 10 - 20%. The addresses are not the same each time, and they are scattered throughout the full list. I could attach an example, but I don't want to expose all those email addresses.

This has happened on three different computers, at two different locations, both before and after updating with the most recent MR. Our workaround has been to go back in and flag the names that didn't go through the first time and resend the email only to the flagged names, and they go through fine the second time.

This sounds like a problem with our IP (sbcglobal.net), but I don't know what to do to fix it. As I said, it only cropped up this month after using the feature without any significant problems for years. Any ideas?

It sounds like the ISP is preventing major email 'dumps' to make sure that any computer with malware is not being used to dump SPAM. Have you got the system setup to send only so many emails every 15 minutes or so ?? Try that.

I'm going to split this out of this topic, as this is not really a Powerchurch software issue, but its an issue that others could have with email throttling.

Thanks for the reply. I had considered throttling back the distribution, but it looks like it would have to be in groups of 15 or so. The reason I hesitate is that it seems like this ties up the program for the duration. I haven't tested it yet, but if we send no more than 15 every five minutes, it will take more than an hour to send a bulk email to the whole church. Surely that can't be the best solution.

Of course, I do realize that if this is a IP problem, I should be talking to them. I just know from experience that I get much more timely and on-target help from this forum, even when it's not a PC+ issue.

I realize that it may take a while, but if you have the program running the emails on a computer that may be idle, the others can still be working. Or just kick it off at close of business.

I will try limiting the messages to 15 every five minutes and report back. If that "fixes" the problem, I will contact my IP and see if they have any suggestions to really fix it.
