Simple, in this example Jane Smith has married John Jones, and they've moved into a new home.

1. Using the Integrated Data Entry module, find John's Mailing List Profile and update it to reflect that it is now Mr & Mrs John Jones, update the address (if necessary), and add the updated salutation there (John & Jane).

2. Now find Mary's original Mailing List Profile, under the Personal Profiles tab, highlight her Personal Profile using the mouse, then click on the Move button located at the bottom of the window. A list of families will appear. Find John Jones' in the list, highlight it, then click on OK. The Personal Profile will then be moved. (Version 11.x has an updated move function which will allow you to create a New Mailing List Record if you are moving a person to a new address by themselves. In this case you want to move to an existing household.) You should now see John and Jane's profiles listed. If Jane was the only Personal Profile under her original Mailing List Profile, in v11.x you will be asked if you want to delete the Mailing List Profile. In v10.x and earlier, you'll have to go back and manually delete it.

3. Double click on Jane's profile and update the entries there: if she changed her maiden name to her married name, update the last name; update the married date, update the Directory Sequence Number to 2, and any other info there you may need. Updating the Sequence Number is vital, as the system uses it to determine if there is a married couple. Sequence 1 & 2 are always used for couples.

4. If you're going to merge envelope numbers, change Jane's number to John's. All the contributions history will move to John's envelope and no data will be lost.

That's it !!
