PROMOTING BASED ON DOB

IS THERE A WAY TO PROMOTE A CHILD FROM ONE CLASS TO ANOTHER BASED ON HIS/HER DATE OF BIRTH? WE PROMOTE OUR KIDS FROM JUNIOR CHILDREN'S CHURCH TO CHILDRENS CHURCH BASED ON THEIR BIRTHDAY. IT WOULD BE NICE IF THE SYSTEM WOULD AUTOMATICALLY MOVE THE MEMBERSHIPS FROM ONE ACTIVITY TO ANOTHER BASED ON DIFFERENT CRITERIA, INCLUDING DOB.

First off, a friendly hint. When you use ALL CAPS, it looks like you're shouting.

Second, there isn't a direct way to use the birthday to do the promotion, as promotions are usually done once a year.

However, if once a year promotions are not a problem, you could try this: (using v11.5 but I believe this works for v10.4 also)

First off, make sure that you have the Activities & Skills Promotion Month setup properly under Activities and Skill Setup (Membership -> Activities & Skills -> Setup -> Activities & Skills Setup)

Second, under the Junior Children's Church Activity Description (Membership -> Activities & Skills -> Maintain Activity/Skill Description) - make sure you have the number for the regular Children's Church entered in the Promote to block. Then enter the age (6 years old, 7 years old, etc) in the block for Length of Class

Third, find the child's name under the Maintain List of Attenders double click on it, and enter their Birth Date as the Date Joined the activity. I realize that it is duplicating a data item that should be on the personal profile, but since this is a workaround, its the best we can do.

What then happens is that in the promotion month, say August, the system will automatically check to see who is 6 or 7 years old, and will move them to the regular Children's Church activity.

Now, the next thing to do is send a request to "wishlist@powerchurch.com" to see if they could add a function to allow the system to work the way you would like. In the request be VERY detailed. Explain how you would see it working, why it saves you time, and how it would be used.
