Lost saved notes to members
I entered notes and codes for members and saved them as I went, once I finished for the day I printed an "all families alphabetical" report. On the printout it shows my notes and codes - everything was good. Then, five days later, I entered a new member and included notes and codes in the membership field. The next day I printed the same report, but only the notes and codes of the new member showed on the report. The notes and codes for everyone else are no longer there. What happened and how do I get all the notes and codes back?
Re: Lost saved notes to members
I suspect someone restored a backup which overwrote the existing data on the database. You can see who did that by accessing the UTILITIES menu, and selecting the System Audit Log. It will list who did the restore, as well as the date of the backup used in the bottom comment box.Brandy S wrote:I entered notes and codes for members and saved them as I went, once I finished for the day I printed an "all families alphabetical" report. Unless you did a backup after you did all that work, its all gone.

Re: Lost saved notes to members
No one restored a backup (I did check the log as you suggested). This was the first group of members logged into the system because we just purchased the program. So now my concern is losing information that we add to the system if we do not backup after each use. It does not seem right to use a program for tracking notes and codes assigned to members if the program arbitrarily drops data after the data has been saved.
Re: Lost saved notes to members
It shouldn't, this is not normal. How do you have the system setup? Are you using it on a single computer, is it networked? Please explain how its setup, as this may explain why you're having this issue.Brandy S wrote:No one restored a backup (I did check the log as you suggested). FWIW .. I've been using the program for over 16 years, and I don't remember hearing this happen without something overwriting the data. Either a restore within the program, or a restore done to the computer.
I'm assuming that you're using v11.55, right?

Re: Lost saved notes to members
Most current version (11.55), it is networked, and only me and one other person have access to the program. I do not use it for a church, but rather for a nonprofit that I run. I am the director and I use the membership feature to track volunteers and affiliates; my accountant uses the financial features (she very much likes the program). I do not have the time to re-enter data when the program drops it. Was this a fluke? I hope so.
Re: Lost saved notes to members
Do you have the program located on a 'server' that is a computer that is only used as a file server, or is your office desktop computer used as he 'server'.Brandy S wrote:Most current version (11.55), it is networked, and only me and one other person have access to the program. This can be a factor.

Re: Lost saved notes to members
We do not have a designated file server. We use the program on laptops.
Re: Lost saved notes to members
OK ... I'm going to assume that one laptop has the program and data setup on as shared drive, and the other is the one that is networked to it. Right?Brandy S wrote:We do not have a designated file server. We use the program on laptops.

Re: Lost saved notes to members
That is incorrect. I downloaded the program, she downloaded the program. We are only networked in that we share the same wifi space.
Re: Lost saved notes to members
You're not sharing the database. Question, you 'downloaded' the program? Are you using Powerchurch Online?Brandy S wrote:That is incorrect. I downloaded the program, she downloaded the program. We are only networked in that we share the same wifi space.
I ask that because you would install the program from a CD, not a download.

Re: Lost saved notes to members
Yes we are using PCP online. We do not have a CD.
Re: Lost saved notes to members
I assumed when you said PCPlus 11.55, that you had the locally installed version. While the online version should work much the same, there are some differences. You have free phone support with PCPlus Online, they may be able to assist you. Best wait until tomorrow however.Brandy S wrote:Yes we are using PCP online. We do not have a CD.

Sorry I did not clarify. Thank you so much for taking the time throughout the day to try to resolve the issue. I will give support a call tomorrow!

Not a problem, I should start asking that first offBrandy S wrote:Sorry I did not clarify. Thank you so much for taking the time throughout the day to try to resolve the issue. I will give support a call tomorrow!
