Has anyone printed ID tags directly out of Powerchurch to a tag printer? I am researching how to make ID Tags with a barcode listing so we can scan our attendace into the system real-time. I know PowerChurch does not directly provide the means to do this, but it seems all the right things are in place to do it with little or no hassle.

Thoughts, ideas, direction?

Timothy,

You can include the bar codes on the attendance report. On the Attendance Register Report, select whatever format you like (we use the last one) and then select the check box marked "Print Bar Codes."

I may not be understanding your need for printing them on ID tags, perhaps you could share?

I think I know where's he want to go with that Jeff. People would wear their ID tags, then as they drop them in a return box, then they could be scanned for attendence entry.

I would think you would like to have the ID code on the back of the tag, so it doesn't look like the church is treating the members in the pews as commodities.

That said, you can still do attendance with such a tag return, now, just that you have to look up the names in the 'fast entry' module.

We use an attendance pad, or 'friendship pad' as we call them here. And each week, they are entered in to the system. It takes me about 20 minutes to enter about 300 names.

What this also allows me, as the database admin, to do is verify the data entered on visitors into the system. IE: Does it have a correct USPS address, with routing code and ZIP+4, is the status correct, etc.

I understand where you are going with both of your comments, and thank you. However, i am creating name tags for my teenagers, similar to a school ID Tag. It has their name, picture, grade, and a small bar code in the corner.

They keep their tag, but when they walk in the door they must scan their tag. I print the list the next day, and scan the numbers into Fast Data Entry. So i need to be able to print the bar code on a custom report.

I have a solution that is working, but it is very round about; my issue is that PowerChurch has all components to do this directly. I know the barcodes are accessible, otherwise they could not include them on the attnedance report. They just will not allow them to be added to a custom report (which I cannot understand the logic behind them not allowing access to those numbers, especially since they can make them read only).

Let me know if you see something i am missing!

Tim
