importing to v9

Post by Al »

Not too long ago I took a Microsoft Works file, fiddled with it, and imported it into v9 (possible as a comma-delimited or similar file). The data is available in Family Mailing Lists, but NOT in Personal Profiles.

How can this data be moved into Personal Profiles without entering it all by hand.? We need this for the person doing Contributions to be able to add envelope numbers. (and probably other things which we have not yet thought of.)

You cannot import data into the Personal Profiles. Each family member must be entered by hand.

However, if you have a previous database containing the mailing information as well as the personal profile data, for a fee, the Powerchurch techs will convert it and create a backup file you can restore into Powerchurch.

FWIW ... when I installed Powerchurch at my previous church, we had 200 familys, about 400 to 450 personal profiles or so. It took me about 5 days, spending about 4 hours a night to load all the data by hand.

Would I do it again, probably not. I suspect it would be cheaper (since I do value my time at $20 an hour) to have it done.
