I recently updated from v9 to v10. I use the quick data entry to enter attendance. I now find that anyone that I have marked as attending the class for a particular session is now added to my attendance screen. The names do not print on my attendance register form - just show up in my data entry screen. Is there any way to turn this off? In v9, I had to select that I wanted to add this person using the "Add" button.
I really prefer to add visitors as needed instead of scrolling thru more and more names. That tends to defeat the propose of "quick data entry". I am hoping that is simply a box or blank that I need to check or uncheck.
I really appreciate any help that anyone can give me.

Are you sure that you're the one adding people to the class? Is someone who is doing the main data entry (name, address, etc) also adding Activities ?
Or, when you click on the Add Person in the Quick Data Entry dialog, is the checkbox for Permanently add to this activity checked ??
Either one of these could be causing what you are seeing. I just tested this on my test setup, and that's the only ways this could be happening.
FWIW ... I'm also on the latest Maintenance Release, dated 04/03/07.
Hope this helps.

I am the only one who is adding people to the classes, updating attendance, just about everything. Only one other person is allowed permission, and she doesn't do any of that.
I am NOT asking to Permanently add to this activity. I am very familiar with that function - have used it before. This is not happening on all classes - just a few.
I did the maintenance update (4/3) although I did have some trouble getting it to do the update. Not a problem downloading - just doing the update.
If the 2 ways that you mentioned are the only ways that this problem could be caused, I am stumped.

Do you also add people to the database ?? If not, that person could be adding activities.cpegoda wrote:I am the only one who is adding people to the classes, updating attendance, just about everything. Only one other person is allowed permission, and she doesn't do any of that.
What type of problem did you experience when you did the MR ?? I don't think that is the cause of this problem, but you never know.I am NOT asking to Permanently add to this activity. I am very familiar with that function - have used it before. This is not happening on all classes - just a few.

I am the only one who adds, updates, records attendance, etc.
The problem I had with the update is that I had to try numerous times to get it to do the update. It probably isn't the source of the problem.
I can deal with it - it is just frustrating to find members added to classes that I didn't add. It does slow me down in entering data. As I said earlier, I am one of only 2 that can add people to the rolls, do any updates, etc. and she doesn't do any of it. That is not her job - it is mine. She is my backup.
Thanks,
Christie

We haven't seen that kind of thing happen before, through all the testing that we have done.
If you have people in an activity that you don't want to be there from now one, you can simply open Maintain List of Attenders and remove them from the list.
If this was some sort of anomaly in the conversion process, then it certainly won't be an ongoing thing. If it is something going sideways in your day to day operations, you will probably see it happen again after you remove the people from the activity.
