Power Church can't "find" a personal profile

Post by calvarymo »

We are using 11.5, with the most up to date release. When we are in the personal profiles and hit find then type in a name in the beginning of the g's, ex. garrison, it says profile not found. But when you hit locate you can find the profile that way. It is not doing it with all profiles. Just a few select ones and we know we are spelling it correctly. It will also, once you've selected the profile with locate, then hit next a few times to go to another name in the same area, suddenly jumps back to last names starting with "a"

Not really sure that this will cause your problem. But you might want to check to be sure that there is not a space before the first letter of the name you are searching for.

Unfortunately it's not one name it's a group of names.

I did test it here and if there is a space before the name the Find function will not find it. Could not reproduce the jump back to the a names however.

Is this a last name? You're saying its a group, do you mean its a family group? If so, what Tom is saying could be the cause. If you entered the family using the add new family function, it will use the last name entered for all, and if you have a space in front of that last name, it won't find it.

As far as the 'back' and 'next' button, the system uses the internal indexing to follow traverse the database. If you have a bunch of 'G' names entered, then the next family entered started with an 'A', this will happen.

It's not one family and there is not a space before the name. By group I mean it's "gady, garner, garrison, etc." until about the middle of the g's and then it will find them again if you do the find button. But they are not gone because when you use the locate button you can get to them that way.

Try doing a Reindex. You can find that function under Utilities. Let us know what happens with the Locate then.

If you search for the name with the Locate option it will not show you that there is a space before the name. You will not see it until you are actually in the profile. Not sure how you are verifying there is no space before the first letter of the last name.

FWIW ... a reindex should be done at least every other month, more often if you have a lot of changes.
