Using Gmail for Email To A Group

Post by brentbond »

I am running PC+ V11.1. My current email provider has changed their rules about gang emails being sent out. It now takes a prohibitively long time to do gang emails through them. I am researching using Gmail as a substitute for this. Have there been any reported problems using them for this kind of thing? Do you just set it up PC+ wise with their SMTP, username, and password?

There is normally a $5/month charge for this service but it is free for a 501(c)3 so the price is right.

I haven't heard anything lately with Gmail, but there are some things you need to setup. Find the Gmail SMTP SSL settings and port number, then use the instructions as listed in the knowledgebase article linked to below to setup PCPlus. Then I'd insure that you have PCPlus setup to only send a few emails (25 or 50 at a time) so that Gmail doesn't not tag you as a spammer.

Hope this helps.
