Report with the deacon listed

I am looking for a report of all church members in alphabetic order with the name of their deacon out beside the members name.
Is there a way to do that?

You can set it up in two ways:

1. Using the 'visit area'
2. Using the 'who visits'

both of these are under the Family Mailing List record.

You would then use the Family Mailing List's Deacon's Report

It still divides the membership list up by deacons.

What I need is the whole church membership role in alphabetical order with the deacon's name out beside it.

Example

John Doe..........Deacon Jones
Mary Jones.........Deacon Smith
Alice Smith.......Deacon Williams

Is this possible?

This is probably more of an export than a formatted report. If you want only name and deacon to be included, use the Export Data option found under Membership > Personal Profiles > Other Output. It would also be a fairly easy custom report to write, but the export has less of a learning curve.

On the first screen, make selections to control what people should be included in the export, just like you were running any other report. Click OK.

On the next screen, choose which fields you want to export. The family fields (like home address, etc.) are in the list first. This is where Who Visits (or Visit Area, whichever field you use to record the Deacon assigned to the family).

Double click that field to move it over into the Fields to Export list on the right.

Further down the list, you will see the Profile Last Name, Profile First Name, Profile Middle Name, Suffix, Preferred Name, and Title fields. Double click any of those that you want to include in the export.

In the Fields to Export list, there is a gray block on the left side. You can click and drag the mouse on that block to rearrange the order of the list.

On the next screen, choose which file format you want to export to. You can choose either Comma Separated Values (CSV) or Excel 5 (XLS) formats. Either/both will open in Excel for further formatting and printing.
