Two questions -
1. Is there a way to avoid putting in the birth year if I don't know what year they were born.
2. Is there a way to record if the member is a Trustee, Deacon, etc.

Enter 9999

You need to setup the Maintain Offices Served under the Activities & Skills module. You can also list dates of service.
