Copying Membership files from v9 to v9

I'm new to our church. A previous PowerChurch administrator upgraded our system from v8 to v9. Somehow the Membership data wasn't brought in (or was deleted) on v9. The v9 system was then used for Accounting before it was discovered that the Membership data was missing. The Membership data was restored to another v8 system, and the church has been using the v8 system for Membership and the v9 system for Accounting.
The v8 system has no Accounting data, and the v9 system has no Membership data. It doesn't appear that the Membership files' records and Accounting files' records are linked in any way, since the Accounting v9 system operates fine without any Membership data, and the Membership v8 system operates without any Accounting data.

I want to consolidate the Membership and Accounting data on the v9 system. Will the following procedure work?

1. Upgrade the Membership v8 system to v9
2. Copy the following files from the upgraded Membership v9 system to the Accounting v9 system:
ATDATA Attendance
MA Family Mailing List
MACODES Family Mailing List codes
MAINFO Family Mailing List information
ME Personal Profiles
MECODES Personal Profile codes
MEINFO Personal Profile information
MI Ministry Services
SK Skills & Activities
SKREF Skills & Activities descriptions
SKSERV Offices Served
VI Visitations
3. Re-index the v9 system and test for data integrity.
4. Totally remove the Membership v9 system.

I found this post from 2005. This is a better procedure:

To convert just her copy of the membeship and then combine it with the other modules from the other workstations:
1. Install a new copy of version 9 into a new folder.
2. When prompted convert the data from the membership secretaries computer.
3. In version 9, backup just the membership section.
4. Restore the membership backup into the existing version 9 on the other computers.
5. You can then cleanup the temporary install of version 9 used to convert the newer version 8 data files.

Don't forget to do the CONTRIBUTIONS data, and move it too.

FWIW ... if the installed copy of version 9 is networked on all the computers (normal procedure), all you have to do is restore the backed up Membership and Contribution files, and the files will then be accessable to all the computers.

I would then remove any reference to version 8 on those networked computers (delete icons), then UNSHARE the version 8 folder on the 'server' machine so that no one else can accidentally access that data again.
