Merging two member records

I have two separate member records each with a different first name and the same last name. I recently found out that they are one and the same person.
I understand how to move a profile, but how do I merge them to become one profile, not just an added person to that family?
Thanks.

There is no way to 'merge' a personal profile. What I'd do is this:
1. Move the duplicate record to the correct mailing profile family and delete the incorrect one.
2. Open both profiles and verify the data in each one. Update the correct profile with any new data in the duplicate, then delete the duplicate.
If the duplicate has a new envelope number, have the Financial Secretary (or whomever does this activiity at your location) change that envelope number to the number originally assigned to the correct profile. You must do this before you delete the duplicate or you'll lose any contribution information posted against the incorrect profile.
Hope this helps.
