Membership Identification or User ID

Hello,

Can PowerchurchPlus generate User IDs which members could use to log into a website to view membership information (data, contributions, etc)? We would prefer to have an ID that wouldn't identify the user (like a last name, etc.), or create a security concern by being based on a social security number. This probably means that a randomly generated identification is needed.

I think we could randomly generate a number in Microsoft Excel as an option. Therefore, in addition to the above question, can someone tell me whether Powerchurch can import Excel data?

Thanks,
Ndmand

The system is not built to allow congregational access to such data. While you can provide read only access to the personal profiles and contribution data, this type of access allows viewing of ALL such data in the system.

This is a MAJOR privacy concern and I suspect would cause major issues in your congregation.

If this is not what you're thinking about, I may have misunderstood your question. As far as normal staff access to the system, you can use any self-generated ID to logon.

Thank You

Thanks,

Your response helps a great deal. It sounds as though all data will be available to the person logged in. That is a major concern.

Exactly, Powerchurch is designed as a database for the staff and authorized volunteers of the church. As such, you can limit access to certain areas;

IE: Church secretary has access to membership, but not to Contributions, Accounting or VIsitiations.

Pastor has access to membership and Visitations, but not to Contributions and Accounting.

However, as I mentioned, this access also grants authorization to view all data in that area (in most cases).

Hope this helps.
