Adding children without parents names

Does anyone have a suggestion on how to enter children into Powerchurch that come without their parents. We are currently using Parent pager as our check in system and we have a lot of kids that come with other kids and teens that check themselves in. We would like to add their names to Powerchurch on a weekly basis. If we add them as their own family, do we code them as a 3 for a child so they don't receive mailings that are meant for adults, etc. I know we can mark them as a "N" for an adult but I don't want to have to use that filter to filter out kids because we do have names that have not been marked Y or N and they wouldn't pull up in our reports. Thanks for any help.

We have a similar situation at our church. Yes you would code them as 3. The book discusses this on page 83 (chapter 4: Membership). You can also find the same info using the Help feature in PowerChurch.

Does anyone have a solution to this using Version 11.5?

This should work the same, have you tried it, are you having an issue?

We have entered children using a 3, but we're not allowed to set up a child without an adult.

As a consequence, we have several records/profiles that have only a last name because the family is just a child/youth.

I'm not sure what you mean by this, there shouldn't be any filter that will stop you from entering a personal profile because its a child.

Could you be more specific:

Can you setup the mailing list profile OK ? Then the creation of the Personal Profile OK ??
