Merging existing personal profile custom codes

I would like to combine several of the custom codes we have under personal profiles into one. I have tried to rename the codes to one broader category name, but get the message "this code description is already in use." I want the folks listed under the other codes to all be merged into one larger category. Do I have to go into each record and change their personal profile code?

When you delete a custom code, the program will ask what code you want to move the people into that currently have the deleted code assigned.

Just follow through that process for each of the ones that you want to "combine" into one code.
