I can create a report with the search key on a name, but when I than want to include in the print out an e-mail associated with that name it cannot find anyone? What could I be doing wrong?

It sounds like you are including the e-mail address in the selection process. The first step in custom reports is creating a selection of who you want. In your case you want to select by the name. The next step in what information you want about the people/things that match your selection. Like name & e-mail addresses. You don't care what the e-mail address is in the first step, so it is not used as part of the selection.

Thank you, Jeff. Yes, I know, but when I add the e-mail to the display after I have chosen the name to search it won't come back with any emails whatever and says that no one fits the criterion..

What is the query condition as it is shown on the custom report screen? (that screen that has the Edit Record Filter, Pick Output Type, Edit Output Fields, Edit Sort Order, and big Run Query button)
Also, what module is this report created under?

Membership module
Under Pick a Field - "Household Key Last Name" Under Pick An Operator "Is not empty"
Then in Query list manager "done" then In Select Fields if I say something like City or First Name
It will run the report. If I include e-mail, it won't find anything.

Couple of questions:
Where ae you entering e-mail addresses?
Are you including names as well as the e-mail address in your output fields?
If you include another personal field such as birthday, do you get the same result?
Do you get a blank screen with a scroll bar on the right , or do you get a dialog that says no records matched?

Thank you for your time...
e-mail addresses are entered in the Membership module under family members/profile name
yes, output asks for family name and first name. When I asked for birthday, as before when I asked for e-mail to be included i get the message "No records found that matched...."

When you are adding a new person, which add button are you clicking? The one at the top of the screen or the add profile button below the family members list? On this screen, is there anyone listed in the family members list?

When you click the add button at the top, you are entering a new family, not a person to the family shown on the screen. In PowerChurch there are 2 levels of information, family information and individual information. Family information is common to all members of the family. ie. mailing address, home phone # etc. Individual information is specific to each person, mobile phone #, birth date, etc. It sounds like you have not entered any personal information only family information. When you add a family through the add family assistant, it prompts to add family members, did you add any family members?
