error message when sending emails

Every time I try to send a group email, I am receiving an error message. "A connection to the email server could not be made."
I had connected to our email and disconnected and reconnected a few times now and still the same problem. Have you seen this error before or know what this could be?

The error message I am receiving reads:
A connection to the email server could not be made.
535 5.7.0 ...authentification rejected (6)

Do you have email authentication setup? Has your ISP changed their requirements?
