If a member of a family has a different address, how will it be handled.
In the database it appears members of a family must have the same address, once they are linked to the same family.
However there are instances where, a member could have a different address.
for example a member could be staying in a different apartment. or locality.
How can one have a unique address and still remain linked to the family.
Thanks,
Sam

Re: Member of a family with different address
Currently, they would have to have a separate Mailing List record, with their personal profile under that record. You could have a personal profile record under the family, but if they are living by themselves they are considered a separate household, with separate contributions envelope. Usually a note on the Personal Profile (or in the notes section of the Mailing List profile) will state that they are the child of So and So.samaniyeb wrote:If a member of a family has a different address, how will it be handled.

Re: Member of a family with different address
I would suggest that the Power Church developers would rather introduce a different means of linking family members, rather than by their Household address.
It should be possible to link father/mother, wife/husband, son/daughter/ and even grand parents.
Family is family, and families cannot be determined by household.
In actual situations you could have someone staying in the same household, but not a family member of that family.
We had situations where some families allow members of other families to stay with them because of proximity to school and jobs.
Power church must give it a thought that Family is not necessarily the same as household. And this must reflect in the design of the software.
In fact some other Church Management Software handle this issue excellently [Example is SERVANT KEEPER], so our dear POWER CHURCH, should help us with such features.
thanks,
Sam

Re: Member of a family with different address
This would probably involve a complete redesign of the database schema, and that will probably happen in the next full version of Powerchurch (12 ??), whenever that happens.

Re: Member of a family with different address
This is a big issue for us. For instance, we have elderly couples where the spouse is in a nursing home or rehab or whatever. The spouse's different address may or may not be permanent. They still give the same and wish to remain together for some mailings. But for visitation or an individual mailing this is a problem.
Some families have a spouse who works in another city for months at a time but they are still one family.
Another issue is children who are in college. They have a different address when school is in session but are back home in the summer and during the holidays. Creating a separate profile is confusing.
It just seems much harder than it should be.

Re: Member of a family with different address
In most of the churches I've been at, there is a main address, even if there is someone in a nursing home or on a temporary assignment out of state, all mail goes to the main the legal address. For children in college, we consider them young adults, thus they have their own mailing profile and personal profile. For them, we use the ability to have a temporary address setup in the mailing address profile.parkwayucc wrote:This is a big issue for us. As I mentioned, this request should be sent to the wishlist@powerchurch.com email address for inclusion in the user wishlist.
