I am preparing a directory in the classic style including active and inactive member families. It will include a photo of each family that agrees to be photographed. The pastor and his family naturally are active members of the church and as such are included.

I am looking for a way to make the pastor stand out. Perhaps there is some notation that I can include in his name like change his first name from "Ron" to "Pastor Ron" in the membership module. Or even better,maybe there is a way to include his name and individual photo as the first page in the directory.

Please advise as to how other churches handle this in their directories.

You could export the directory as a Word file, then create the page that way. As far as changing the name, you can do that too.
