We use Activity/Skills as a Skills bank (Volunteer activities list). Every 3 years we completely redo our Skills/Volunteer codes and people fill in a new form. I'm able to delete all the people within a range of activities but the Activity code and descriptions are still there. I had to delete about 100 codes one by one.
Is there a way (probably through Database commands) to delete a range of codes (1 through 100) and its descriptions? Thanks.
I want to delete a range of Activity codes

Re: I want to delete a range of Activity codes
John, there is no programmatic way, and as far as using the database manager, I'm not sure that's a good idea as it bypasses some of the programmatic checks on the database.
Just wondering, why do you redo the numbering every three years ???

Re: I want to delete a range of Activity codes
Neil, A lot of it has to do with the location of the same description on the new form. Also some descriptions are eliminated and others are added as the needs of the congregation and committees go forward. Rather than hunting for a code to change the description, or delete it or add a new one where one is already located it's just easier to wipe our codes 1-200 and start fresh. It only takes a little over an hour to set them all up again.
I'm curious as to if other users are doing theirs like we do, or are we the only one?

FWIW .... when I setup Activities I create 'headers' for each area/ministry, then individual activities.
Example:
Sunday School/Christian Ed -- 200-299
Worship - 300-399
Buildings/Ground - 400-499
and so on. Then I manipulate the areas under that as needed. I usually force the form to conform to the PCPlus setup rather than the other way around.
