Grade levels

Post by Karen Harris »

Does anyone have a better/different way of entering grade levels for children other than as an activity? (ex, SS: K #1001 and VBS: K #2001)

That's the way it was designed, so that you can graduate to the next grade (activity).

That said, I have the system setup as follows:

I use the x00 & xx0 levels as the header:

300 Sunday School
301 - Pre-K
302 - K
303 - 1
304 - 2
305 - 3
306 - 4
307 - 5
...
310 - Junior High
311 - 6
312 - 7
313 - 8
314 - 9
...
320 - Senior High
321 - 10
322 - 11
323 - 12
...
330 - Adults
331 - College ..
332 - Adult Class 1

and so on. This may not work for all locations.

I then use 400 for VBS ...

You didn't say what you were trying to accomplish. Activities and Skills is designed for classes or other groups in your church. There are features in activities and skills to print labels / send e-mail messages to the participants in that group or to their parents. There is also a promotion capability to promote people to the next class.

I have talked to people that have wanted to put the grade for a child in Personal Profiles. I think they wanted to use it as a selection for a report in personal profiles. The best solution in that case is to create a user code in Personal Profiles for the graduation year. i.e. 2013, 2014, etc. This gets around how to promote children to the next grade.
