Recommended Setup Sequence

We are new PowerChurch users and would like to maximize PowerChurch functionality. Our immediate priority is to set up our Membership, Accounting/Payroll information, and Contributions. Is there a recommended sequence in which we should set up these modules? (It seems that we would do better to first set up Membership and Accounting/Payroll concurrently, then worry about Contributions (and other modules) afterward. It also appears that we have the ability to go in and make changes after the fact, but I'd like to get things as "right" as we can in order to minimize maintenance. Does that make sense?

Membership is not dependent on Accounting, and vice versa. However, Contributions is dependent on the Membership setup as you will need to assign envelope numbers on Personal Profiles to be able to enter Contributions. You don't need to have Accounting setup for Contributions, but having it setup allows you to create the Contribution Funds so that you can post and create the proper transactions that will update Accounting.

My advice is this:

Do Accounting first. This takes the most time as you should analyze how your church ministries are setup so that you can properly assign expenses, decide how to setup your Accounting Funds (whether to separate a building fund, endowments, and/or missions from regular church operations), and so on.

You can then do Contributions, setting up the Contribution Funds to point to the proper income and checking accounts.

Membership can be done while you're doing the rest, as its a separate module and database. If you're on a network, you can have people entering Membership, while you're working on Accounting.
