I logged on as administrator and then created a username and password with the same rights as the administrator so any changes could be traced back to my account. I logged off the system, restarted the program and entered the new username and password and it says it is invaid....am I missing something?

The Userid and Password you changed are only good within Powerchurch. When it starts up you'll get a dialog with a selection drop down showing the users setup in Powerchurch. When you select your name, you will then enter your password in the space below.

Um ... are you seeing the Powerchurch splash screen when you start the program ??
