Is there a way to change the smtp port to 465 in the email settings?
Would this allow us to use Google Apps?

Well, you should be able to access the Google SMTP server by using the following entry in the SMTP server line:

smtp.gmail.com:465

This may allow you to send mail. The only way to check is to try to send it.

Now, about using Google Apps, what were you thinking of doing ??
