PowerChurch Plus and PCP online
If you currently have the Power Church Plus (11.5) software installed, can you sync it with the online version? I travel alot and would like to have access when I am away.
Re: PowerChurch Plus and PCP online
The idea behind the PowerChurch online is for people to be able to manage their information even when they aren't at the church. Such as someone working from home, traveling etc. All you need is an internet connection and a small software program installed to connect. Everyone that works in the data can access the PCO and then everyone is looking at the same data.
You can do a backup and restore between the local copy and the online version and vice versa, but if anyone works in the local copy, OR someone works in the online version between that backup/restore, the potential to lose information is high. There isn't a sync option in the true since of the term where records update with only missing information.

My suggestion for occasional remote access is to use remote access software such as GoToMyPC if you can afford it, or VNC which is free or you can get the pro version for a nominal cost. This allows you to access your computer remotely, and use any program that is on it.

Re: PowerChurch Plus and PCP online
Just to add here for anyone reading this in the future, you can restore a backup from a local copy of PowerChurch Plus to PowerChurch Online as long as they are on the same version. As Zaina pointed out, it isn't a good idea, since the whole point of PowerChurch Online is to serve as the master data set, accessible to anyone who needs it, eliminating the need for a local copy of the program.
The second issue with this is the caveat that they have to be the same version. Right now, PowerChurch Online is running Version 11.5 of PowerChurch Plus, so in theory, if you have 11.5 installed locally, you can restore a backup to the PC Online account. However, PowerChurch Online is always updated to the latest version of the program, so when Version 12 releases, your local copy of Version 11.5 will not be updated and you will no longer be able to backup and restore between them.
We always recommend that people stop using the local version once they switch to PowerChurch Online. I know that's not the question that was being asked here, but didn't want the only answer here in writing to sound like "Sure, go ahead!"
