Can't get Check In Installed

Post by denniston »

Hi,

We currently have 4-5 check in kiosks set up. I had to replace on of the computers today, and I can't get the check in kiosk to connect to the server.

I have another kiosk next to me connected to the same wireless, and it's working.
I can connect to the server that the data files are on through the file explorer.
PowerChurch will connect to the data.

I just can't get the check in kiosk to connect to the server.

Here is the setting file:
[CHECKIN]
Server=fileserver
Welcome Text=Splash Kids Check In
Welcome Image=
Welcome Type=TEXT
Startup Mode=ADMIN
BarCode=false
Label Printer Name=
Label Printer Type=NONE
Label Type=default
Dymo Printer Name=
Activity List=ALL
OnScreen Keyboard=false
Station Name=USER-PC
Kiosk Always OnTop=true
Kiosk Allow Close=false
Kiosk Allow Minimize=false
Kiosk Auto Maximize=false
Online Code=
Finger Server=localhost
Finger Port=1200
Finger Station=_4JT0ZXYJD

Yes the server is creatively named "fileserver"

Any help as to what to look at would be much appreciated.

Have you tried turning off the Windows (or third party) firewall to see if you can connect that way??

Neil,
That was a good idea, but unfortunately it did not help.

I have uninstalled, and reinstalled the program.
I have disabled the wireless and ran a wired connection.

I still cannot connect to the check in server.
Is there any troubleshooting materials?

Thanks

Jason

Ok,

weird stuff. I decided to use the ip of the server instead of the name and it worked. I thought everything was ok.
Now when i open the check in kiosk, it connects and pulls up the activity, but I can't log in because it says no users have been given access to the check in module.

I just checked the next kiosk and it gives the same error. Weird.

Check the permissions in the main Powerchurch program, that's where the Check In permissions are kept.

I'm not sure what happened with the permissions. I didn't change anything, but they started working.

As far as the Check in Kiosk not connecting to the server while using the server name. It had to do with the new computer had vista installed which utilizes IPv6 in the network connections. Once I disabled that (with the help of Thomas from Powerchurch tech support) the server name thing worked.

New computer & Vista ... does not compute ??? :)

Glad to hear that it was straightened out, and I'll remember about turning off the IPv6 options.
