Chart of Accounts
I find myself in a position of having to re-run the Accounting Set-up again and wondered if there is a file stored in my backups that will allow me to save the COA's and restore them to the new set-up so that I don't have to spend a lot of time re-building them? Does anyone know?

What is it you are trying to do? If you want to keep your current chart of accounts, but want to get rid of all the balances and transactions, use the delete old data option on the fund accounting menu. If you delete all of your transactions you will get a prompt asking what month to set as the current month. You will need to re-enter beginning balances with a journal entry. We added this for people who wanted to keep their chart of accounts, but want to start over with new balances.
I want to wipe all of the transactions/balances because of the "learning curve" that I went through which included an inaccurate beginning balance. I have 9 FUNDS with 9 separate checking accounts that correspond with each fund. What I wanted to do was have a separate checking account in each of the funds. When I set up fund accounting I "thought" that I would be able to navigate to a 01-1110, 02-1110, 03-1110 account, but I can't see how to do that. I then created a 01-1110, 02-1120, 03-1130, etc. account to coordinate with each fund. that was all fine, but then I realized that I also had to "Transfer" the account balances from 01-1120 to 02-1120, 01-1130 to 03-1130, etc. I have a huge mess of transactions that I want to clean up and start over now that I have a much better idea how I want to lay this out. I know that within the next six months I AM GOING TO CLOSE at least three checking account and manage them through sub-accounts in the 01 Fund. Did I make too big of a mess to recover from?

I would make a backup of what you have right now, so you can always get back to this known place if there is a problem.
It sounds like you want to keep your current chart of accounts but get rid aof all the transactions and balances. Under Fund Accounting select the delete old data and put in a date that will delete all your transactions. The routine checks to see if you just deleted all your transactions and if so you will see another prompt asking you what accounting month to set the system to. Assuming you want to start January 2008, I would suggest selecting December 20007. You will have to put in your beginning balances with a journal entry, by putting the beginning balances entries in December 2007 it keep them separate from your January 2008 work.

Thank you Jeff!
I have done exactly as you mentioned. I have added the beginning balances to Dec. 31, 2007 and loaded all other transactions in the corresponding fund. Everything works great and best of all, the check register balanced to the penny! I really like this software! There is much to learn due to the fact that I have never used Accounts Payable/Receivable before. And at this time will only use Payroll to post 3 employee's manual checks. This had to be set up with each employee (one of them is myself) showing 'salaried' with no deductions. Someone in the church has been managing the payroll paperwork for that last several years and only communicates to me the amount that each check should be written for. So far, so good.
Thanks for replying, I really appreciate your input.
