Recording assets

Post by CounceFirst »

Are there any training videos for managing assets? This is something I was not trained on when I started working at the church many years ago. I will need to go in and record all assets. Thanks!

What type of assets? Do they want these amounts reflected in the unrestricted net assets? Do they want to see these assets in a separate balance sheet entry?

Any suggestion depends on these answers.

I, myself do not like to have fixed assets showing up in the operations net assets, as it may give the church board an idea that there are more 'liquid' assets (cash) available then there are.

I usually created a separate Accounting Fund (I used FA as the Fund code for Fixed Assets) and listed the fixed assets under that fund, so the assets are records, but not showing up as operational funds.
