System generated problem

Post by Al »

v9
We have four funds in Accounting. When doing a Balance Sheet for the end of April, one of the funds has -627.49. Equity | Donor Restricted Equity | Permanently Restricted Equity | Permanent Sustaining Fund (name of fund that has the negative balance). This balance started at end of January.

This seems to be the only account under this heading - not sure why I did this.

I tried to Delete it or change to a higher account number but couldn't do either.

Help.

If I were trying to resolve this problem I would first run the Fund Accounting Report named "Account Close To Report" selecting only the Fund Account number that has the negative balance.

For each income & expense account listed in the Account Close To Report I would run an "Account Activity" report from Jan 2008 to your most recently closed month.

Theoretically the Dec 31, 2007 balance in your equity account plus all the income closed to the account since 12/31 ... minus all the expenses closed to the account since 12/31 should equal the negative balance you currently have.

In reviewing the income & expense closed to the negative fund account, you may find some one made a posting error ... or that the income and/or expense is closing to the wrong fund balance account.
