Payroll Taxes

Please help!

Employee and employer taxes for med and soc are debiting the same expense account payroll taxes and crediting the the liability account Med and Soc for Employer and Employee Taxes should Employee med and soc debit expense account payroll deductions?

The employee portion of SS & Medicare should debit the bank, not the expense. By debiting the money back into the bank, it lowers the check amount that is written from Gross to Net.

Only the employer portion of SS & Medicare should be treated as an expense, since the employee portion is the employee's expense, not the church's.
