I need some help on doing Budgeting.
From the Module ACCOUNTING/FUND ACCOUNTING/REPORTS and
ANNUAL BUDGET WORKSHEET, I saved this on Excel Spreadsheet file.
After entering the budget figures and saving this as a new file in Excel, how do I retrieve this file in the Accounting Module to compare the Budgeted figures with Actuals.
I tried to import the file by going to ' UTILITIES/IMPORT-EXPORT CUSTOMS REPORTS/IMPORT and selected the Excel file and it indicated that ' THIS FILE DOES NOT APPEAR TO BE A VALID CUSTOMS REPORT "
I am not sure if this is the right method of doing the budget.
Any advice/suggestions would be greatly appreciated as I need to prepare budget for a meeting end of this month and I am new at this program.
Thanks and regards

The import custom report is used to import a Powerchurch Custom Report file (that is, specifications and selection criteria) for creating a Powerchurch report from the database, not for importing data. There is no way to import a spreadsheet to do what you want to do.oztheguitarman wrote:19th July, 08

You can't import this data back into Accounting. The worksheet is a report which you can use to create your budget numbers. You then have to manually enter the numbers in each account using Maintain Chart of Accounts. In the block labeled This account is used in the following funds, you'll see that there is a button listed on the line showing the fund labeld Budget. You would click on this butter to turn on{/i] budgeting for that account, and to enter the budget for the year.
The first time you do this can be very tedious, but next year you can copy the budget from the past year (or any past year) to the next year automatically. Then all you need to do is manually tweak the monthly budget numbers to reflect any changes in the new year's budget.
Now, having a way to import the budget would be a good item for the wishlist. That said, it would require certain rules to be followed when creating the spreadsheet or import file so that the import would not cause data problems. Sometimes the requirements of setting up a file format for such an import are more trouble than its worth.
Finally, if you have a question on what the function does, pressing the F1 key on your keyboard will always bring up the online Powerchurch manual.
Hope this helps.

BUDGETING - PC Version 10.4

Dear Neil,
I did the following steps on budgeting and when I look at the Annual Budget Worksheet report or Monthly Budget report, I do not see the figures that I budgeted the respective accounts.
ACCOUNTING/FUND ACCOUNTING/MAINTAIN CHART OF ACCOUNTS
Changed Account Number example 4020-000 (ASSET) REPORT LEVEL 1/FUND 01 /CLICKED ON BUDGET/ENTERED LUMPSUM AMOUNT/DISTRIBUTE EVENLY SAVED.
Followed above for other accounts (Income, Asset, Expense etc)
When I go back to ACCOUNTING/FUND ACCOUNTING/REPORT & Select Annual Budget Worksheet or Monthly Worksheet, I do not see the figures that I saved for the Budget on various accounts. (I selected all accounts to be viewed).
Please let me know what steps I am missing in order to register the budget figures.
Thanks & Regards

When you set up the budget, did you select from the pulldown Budget directly on this account ? Also when you entered the lump sum amount, did you see the money distributed over the year ??oztheguitarman wrote:20th July, 08

I did a test and updated the budget on one account for this year, the system divided up the amount evenly over 12 months. I ran the Budget Worsheet Report and saw the new numbers (rounded up to the next dollar).
I then ran the Annual Worsheet Report, and saw the change there.
I'm not sure how you're selecting the report, but it works fine here. You may want to make sure that you're choosing the correct items when the report options screen comes up.
