Post by oztheguitarman »

I would like to know if it is possible to group certain " Expense Accounts " and have a Sub Total for example:

GROUP HEADING " 4491 No 5 ROAD HOME "

A/C 000-5646-000 W & S for No 5 Road
A/C 000-5741-000 Repairs for No 5 Road
A/C 000-5925-000 Insurance for No 5 Road
A/C 0005649-000 Property Taxes for No 5 Road

SUB TOTAL EXPENSES...........................$..............

If this is possible can someone please let me have step by step instructions.

Thanks

Osvaldo

The "Report Level" that is assigned to each account is what controls this. You will notice that some accounts are indented further to the right than others on reports. Some reports also list the report level, as follows:

1. 1000-000 ASSETS
---2. 1010-000 FIXED ASSETS
------3. 1100-000 BANK ACCOUNTS
---------4. 1110-000 Bank Account 1
---------4. 1120-000 Bank Account 2
---------4. 1130-000 Bank Account 3

In this example, you would receive a subtotal after those three "Bank Accounts" that are level 4 accounts. At the end of the list of level 4 accounts, you would receive a subtotal called "BANK ACCOUNTS", which is the title of the level 3 account that started this "group" of accounts.

If there was another new group account level 3, then a series of detail accounts at level 4, you would see the same thing again: a subtotal with the same name as the level 3 account. If there are no more level 3 accounts, then you would see a subtotal on the level 2 "FIXED ASSETS" account.

If there were no other level 2 accounts, then you would see a subtotal listed for the level 1 "ASSETS" account.

Take a look at your Balance Sheet and see if you recognize this pattern.
