I'm using PC V9 on an XP machine.
When I compare the Balance sheet differences between year-end 2007 and Nov '08 month end with the Excess Income /Expense total on the Income and Expense statement for the same period, I find a considerably different amount.
Example:
12/31/07 1110 bal of $3000
11/30/08 1110 bal of $5000
net growth of $2000 in 11 months
Total Income $100,000
Total Expense 95,000
net growth of $5000 over the same 11 months.
The checking account balances each month to the bank statement.
Has anyone got an idea why this is happening?
I appreciate any help you might offer.

To do this analysis correctly you also have to factor in the change in total assets (other than the checking account) and also total liabilities between the two periods. It appears in your example that there was either a net increase in assets of $3,000 or a net decrease in liabilities of $3,000 between these two periods.
