Contributions/change month?

Post by LLS »

Sorry, my second question for today!

In my learning curve with PC10, I forgot to change the working month to February at the right time. Because of this, it looks like contributions I entered for the first week of February got posted under January. So our January contributions are inflated....and February will likely look extremely light.

It's not a huge problem, and we are certainly accuate YTD, but if there is a simple way to correct I'd probably like to do so as we do compare monthly contributions to YA quite frequently.

Thanks in advance,

FWIW ... at my church we've never used Funds Accounting to show our contributions income, we've always used the Contribution Module reports to reflect that.

That said, I believe the only way to correct these postings is to create reversing transactions and then enter the transactions for the correct month.

Neil...thanks for both your responses.

To clarify, we are entering contributions via contributions module. Sorry if I wasn't clear about that. Despite entering last weeks' with a 2/1/09 date, I inadvertently posted them (in contribution mod & FA mod) still to January.

Does your previous reply still hold (have to reverse out and re-enter)?

Thanks in advance,

Lisa

Your reports in the Contribution module (Selected Contributors) for example, should give you amounts by date instead of by posting month.

You will have to remember to run the Contribution Report from the Contribution module next year to compare it to the same month in Fund Accounting next year.

I can't think of any way to modify Fund Accounting to reflect a change in a previously closed month.
